Shelter from weather conditions for people attending services
Dimensions on the floor: 20 x 13,5 m
Height: 5,5 m
This project aims to provide shelter from weather conditions for people attending services. That is why we designed a 270 square metres huge shelter.
The shelter will cantilever 7.5 meters over the corners, it will be only 4 cm thick on the hedges and it will rest on 6 steel rectangular-sectional columns.
We decided to ground-assemble the covering, in an area next to the final installation site, so as to limit inconveniences to users.
This method allowed us to rationally and minimally use means of transport and lifting. And it has also made it possible to build “from workshop to building site” thus limiting the project’s environmental impact, because the building site was nearby our manufacturing workshops and because we used steel (the most recyclable material).
The 23 tons shelter was lifted and moved about 40 m and installed at 7 m off the ground by using a huge truck crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 250 tons. The covering of the false ceiling is particularly interesting. It was built with a textile membrane, that strongly characterizes the covering.
