Covering of Alpe Cognora’s hut

Metal supporting structure equipped with transparent glass covering, that is perfectly integrated in the landscape of the Alpe Cognora.

Technical features

The steel and glass structure is hot-dip galvanized and varnished so as to better withstand the weather. The total weight is about 2 tons. The plan dimensions are of 6.35 x 2.4 m. 

Technical description

The structure links the two pre-existing buildings. The building site, situated at 1.938 meters high, is accessible only on foot; so the covering was transported by helicopter from Sonogno: first was transported and placed the metal structure, then glasses and finishing metal sheets.

The metal structure is composed of RRW tubular sections welded with one another and anchored to two side concrete curbs by using dowels with chemical anchor. We also supplied the ridge metal sheet and the drainage channels of the water, all made of  stainless steel.

The glasses are composed of three layers and have a total thickness of 25.52mm.
